Equilibration/Occlusal Adjustments

Dental restorations and teeth that don’t fit together as they should can cause one or both of the jaw joints to take on excessive force and tension, leading to dysfunction. In these cases, we can adjust the shape and height of the tooth or teeth in question to balance the bite and ease jaw pain.

Occlusal Splints

An occlusal splint is a custom oral appliance that’s designed to be worn as you sleep to shift your jaw into a relaxed, comfortable position. This will help reduce strain on the temporomandibular joints and minimize your symptoms over time.

TENS Machine Treatment

TENS machine therapy provides patients with jaw pain relief by transmitting gentle electrical impulses to inflamed nerves in and around the joints, helping block pain-receiving signals. This can also help reduce symptoms associated with TMJ disorder, like neck and shoulder pain.

BOTOX® Injections

Many patients don’t expect to hear BOTOX® injections as one of their options for TMJ treatment, but it’s able to provide fast relief to the muscles surrounding the jaw joints. Upon being injected into these stressed and overworked muscles, the BOTOX® will help them relax, minimizing stress, jaw fatigue, and pain.
